Visiting Forces Agreement discussion

Last August 2, 2010 our professor gave us two reading materials that we have to defend about the Visiting Forces Agreement or VFA. The reading material that she gave us is divided into two parts which is the positive and the negative side. The one that I got is the negative side both side of the class defended its parts and we also discuss the VFA. The Visiting forces agreement is a bilateral agreement between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America which was signed on February 10, 1998 and was ratified on 1999. The agreement was for the development of the Philippine Military force with the presence of United States military force. The US can do any military activities here in our country for example trainings for there military. The presence of the US troops here in our country is really terrifying because they can bring fights or maybe war here with there other enemies that can cause us allot. The VFA also gives privileges to US military troops like exemption from Philippine regulations such as passport and visa, drivers license, vehicle restrictions and payment of custom duties and taxes. They are free to go anywhere they want without any permit from our government which is really not good in our part, even though they are helping us it is not right that we except them in all of this things because for me people that are not from the Philippines are the one who should follow the polices of the country. The most important privilege of an US military man is the Criminal Jurisdiction, the US can decide whether they will get the criminal US troop or not which is really unbelievable because they are inside our country and they should obey our rules.
